A few years back, it was a debatable point in the education field especially schools that whether the technology is helpful in enhancing the productivity of Teaching-Learning-Process (TLP) or not.
The above question was made to stand firm by a strata of teaching fraternity who were bit reluctant towards use of ICT in their TLP. Knowledge of computers and technology was termed as cup of tea for those who were either Computer Teachers or technical staff in the school set-ups. But, in the changing scenario it has become mandatory for all to learn and come forward to use ICT to achieve better outcomes regarding TLP.
Still some way or the other the ‘Occupational Psyche’ was playing its role or the ‘Trained Incapacity’ of the people, but the reluctance by many was still there and could be observed easily. These factors in-particular with lax approach by the counterparts of the process i.e. students, made the things to fall vulnerable and somewhat to perish in terms of productivity.
The transformation of the education through embedded ICT in the curriculum and TLP was under its transitional phase only when the use of some ICT tools and techniques started to find their respective place in TLP. Meanwhile this continued to have a visible impact in education system simultaneously with the other phenomena stated above which were affecting it adversely.
Then, a very strong Wave-cum-Tsunami of ICT was observed during the Covid-19 a Pandemic, and a kind of boom in the usage of ICT in education got utmost importance but this time being positioned itself at the centre not at the sides or fringes. The transition cum transformation from being discussed as ‘Required or Not’ to ‘Supplementary or Complementary’ and then ‘Need of the Hour’ took place very quickly, thus making it extremely necessary for schools and teachers to make strides to meet with the pace of this change.
The above change brought all the school systems and teachers, etc. on a forum where all were expected to come forward and make oneself abreast with ICT in education to make the TLP maintain its effectivity or to improve the same with its usage. The difference between a Physical classroom and a Virtual Classroom cannot be overlooked but one fact must remain as guiding force that ‘A Teacher is always a Teacher’, irrespective of the situations which rather being friendly, may be adverse in many cases.
Thus, to conclude it can be said that the visible change in the usage of ICT makes a call on each one of us to come abreast with ICT and not only face it but to adapt and develop to meet even the unpredictable so far, as the present situation can also be termed to some extent unpredicted.
